Attachment Large Size Large Wp Post Image

Methamphetamine, also called meth, is a highly addictive central nervous system stimulant that can produce intense euphoria, increased energy and attention, and decreased appetite. This drug is an illegal drug that is man-made in unregulated meth labs and is made with ingredients taken from things like batteries, fertilizer, drain cleaner, paint thinner, and nail polish remover. The most common ingredient is pseudoephedrine or ephedrine, which is found in cold medicine. The chemicals used to make meth are highly toxic and very corrosive. Smoking methamphetamine is the most common way it is used. It is typically smoked from a glass pipe and the meth comes in a crystal form. After it has been inhaled, you will experience a sudden rush of dopamine and serotonin that results in feelings of euphoria and increased energy. After that first rush, the effects of this drug can last for up to 12 hours. Smoking meth is the most common because the effects of this drug are quicker and even instantaneous. What A Meth High and Crash Are Like

The rush of dopamine and serotonin felt after smoking meth is also one of the brain’s chemical responses responsible for feeling pleasure. As you continue to abuse meth, the intensity of the high that is felt will get weaker. So many people addicted to meth continue to use more and more in an attempt to chase that first initial high they got the first time they used it.

What Smoking Methamphetamine Looks Like

They will never feel that high again, but it doesn’t stop them from trying. This cycle is what causes addiction to quickly develop. This cycle will continue to happen over and over again. Below are the stages of a meth high after you smoke it as well as the short-term effects. The Rush: This typically happens within the first five minutes of smoking meth and can last anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour. During a meth rush, your heart rate and breathing will increase and you will likely feel shaky. This is also when you feel that powerful euphoria. The High: After the rush, comes the pleasurable high. This lasts from a few hours up to up to a half a day. Meth high will make you feel aggressive and confident. Some people are talkative ad energetic while others turn violent and aggressive. The effects of smoking meth can be dangerous. It is possible your heartbeat can become irregular. If too much is taken, your heart will not be able to function properly. The Binge: A meth binge can last from a few days to a few weeks. During this time your only purpose in life is to chase that first high that you will never feel again. You likely will not sleep much and eating won’t be very important either. The Tweaking: The tweaking stage is where you see most of the infamous symptoms of meth abuse. Tweaking occurs when you have binged on meth until your body can not get high anymore. At this point, you have drained your body’s dopamine supply and you are physically exhausted. You will experience side effects like confusion, anxiety, depression, irritability, hallucinations, meth bugs, paranoia, and violent behavior. The Crash: Eventually, smoking meth will cause the inevitable crash. You will sleep for very long periods because all of your energy has been depleted. This stage can last for days. Those suffering from meth addiction will experience withdrawal symptoms during this stage such as mood swings depression, loss of energy, intense cravings, and even thoughts of suicide.
